Position Overview
Apple is looking for dynamic, highly-motivated candidates who “think differently” to further expand the China-based SDM, SDE and CRP teams. All three groups will be working on Apple’s latest and greatest products while incorporating and improving upon the strategies that are central to the world’s greatest supply chain.
SDM – The China Supply Demand Planner will be the voice of Apple’s worldwide customers to the production and operations teams in China. As the bridge between Apple’s headquarters and Apple’s Asia Operations team and OEM partners, this person will own the execution of supply plans within one or more OEM production facilities to meet Apple’s customer demand requirements. This person will act as focal point in the development, communication, and execution of a factory’s daily product supply and contingency plans and will track and drive to achieve weekly targets while working with WW and regional SDM teams.
• Key Responsibilities:
o Track and report OEM production results vs target by region and by SKU while highlighting any risks to
target attainment.
o Partner with OEM and Apple Operations / Materials teams to plan factory capacity requirements based
on demand projections and allocate constrained supply between products or regions as needed.
o Lead regular meetings to communicate plans with WW and Regional Supply Demand Planning teams
for input and feedback while working to adapt plans based on ever-changing customer requirements.
o Coordinate with OEM and Apple Operations / Logistics teams to prioritize critical orders, ensure orders
shipment, and drive improved order cycle time.
SDE – The China Supply Demand Execution team provides worldwide support for three regional SDE groups (Americas, Europe, and Asia), while based in Shanghai, China. This team ensures proper product allocation execution through the matching of supply and demand between multiple distribution sites while following direction provided by regional SDE teams. The overall mission is to own and implement the efficient execution of allocation plans, to ensure that all shipments occur as required to meet Apple’s billings plans and financial goals, while ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Key Responsibilities:
o Provide first line support on execution, process & system when supply is available.
o Partner with OEMs to ensure they are operating to support all Apple regions in a globally standard way,
and to optimize allocated shipments. o Maximize allocation attainment by analyzing supply vs backlog, and resolving impediments to shipping backlog.
o Interface with Regional SDE groups on strategic issues, product deployment requests, and quality issues.
CRP – The China Regional Planner (CRP) is the regional supply planning representative in China. The CRP owns the current week’s execution of supply requirement plans for the specific region and product line they represent. This person must be able to communicate the regional supply requirement plans to the OEM, as well as other relevant teams, to ensure customer satisfaction and meet Apple’s overall financial goals.
• Key Responsibilities:
o Analyze and manage regional weekly supply requirement plans. Evaluate risks, plan and implement contingency plans to mitigate.
o Purchase order and inventory management, build prioritization, kanban and shipment monitoring.
o Represent the regional team during the new product introduction, ensure the regional requirements
and priorities are followed and executed.
o Support the regional team on the return, rework and other adhoc communications with the OEM and
counterparts in China.
Education / Experiences
• The successful candidate will preferably have 3 - 5 years Operations experience.
• Prior experience in product planning, production control, inventory management, order management and/or manufacturing is preferred.
• The candidate must combine a working knowledge of world- class supply chain practices, strong analytical capabilities and business savvy.
• The candidate must be able to exert tactful influence in a matrixed organization while working as part of a team and consistently utilizing strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Candidate should be comfortable presenting to senior management.
• Additional requirements include the ability to think strategically and execute tactically, a persistent attention to detail, and a high level of comfort in working with numbers.
• Strong Excel, SAP/ERP background preferred.
• BA/BS required; MBA preferred.
